Sony’s PlayStation Vita has a YouTube app headed its way by the end of June

Image

Assuming all that gaming, Facebooking and Tweeting isn't enough action for your PS Vita, Sony announced tonight it will get a YouTube app by the end of the month. Considering the built in web browser doesn't handle HTML5 or Flash video, native apps are still necessary to fill out its video streaming lineup. The company's US blog hasn't posted any pics yet, but Engadget Japan has a few screen grabs of what it will look like. Check after the break for another pic, while we wonder what other surprises Sony has planned in the run up to E3 2012.

Upscale London boroughs say no no no to BT’s broadband revolution, ugly green boxes

http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/31/chelsea-kensington-council-reject-bt-broadband/

Between all of the delays, disappointment and a general lack of availability, many Brits can't seem to catch a break when it comes to getting up to speed with fast internet -- but this time it could be their own fault. BT's fiber optic rollout plans came to a screeching halt in Chelsea and Kensington after a staggering 96 of 108 applications for big green street cabinets housing the fiber were flat-out rejected. Neither local council is prepared to clutter its pristine streets with the "ugly" boxes. The firm said it'll concentrate on nearby areas that "have shown a greater eagerness to enjoy the benefits of broadband." It's a good thing there are no plans to paint their famous telephone booths green, or those might be out of a job as well.

Google image search results crammed into picture dictionary

Google image search results crammed into picture dictionary

Though not quite a replacement for Mountain View's ill-fated dictionary, this 1,240 page tome contains the first Google image search result for each word in a run-of-the-mill dictionary. With a PHP script, London-based artists Felix Heyes and Ben West scraped the image from each search and compiled an alphabetically ordered PDF brimming with 21,000 images -- safesearch-disabled warts and all. "It's really an unfiltered, uncritical record of the state of human culture in 2012," West told Creative Applications Network. Alas, the volume isn't destined for mass distribution -- presumably to avoid copyright issues -- but the pair is considering sending a small batch of soft cover copies to print.
