(Not) Left for dead: Turtle Rock still developing FPS for THQ

About this time last year, we heard that THQ had tapped Turtle Rock Studios for a new first-person shooter. Since then, THQ has struggled financially and issued numerous layoffs.

Turtle Rock's FPS title is still in the works for the troubled publisher, according to a tweet issued by THQ's Jeremy Greiner, who stated work on the campaign portion of the new game is currently underway. Greiner's recent post was community manager at now-shuttered KAOS Studios, the developers of Homefront. In following tweets he says we won't hear anything more for a while, but that he'll be visiting Turtle Rock Studios -- which is located in Lake Forest, CA -- next week.

Rock Band Weekly: Evanescence

Time to get those goth-rock glamour gowns out of storage, because next week's Rock Band DLC features the emotional tunes of Evanescence. Vocalists should be prepared to warm up at least 15-20 minutes before attempting any type of Amy Lee belting.

WRUP: PAX East approaches

Next week, the entire Joystiq crew will meet in Boston for our annual Illuminati mee... oh, we mean: PAX East 2012. Our only official bit of business will be doing a Joystiq Show live on Saturday, April 7, at 3PM. We aren't exactly sure what the format of the show will be, but the whole crew shall attend and it'd be great if you can be there to watch us make sillies of ourselves. Of course, beyond the show, we'll be around Boston, getting into as much trouble as legally permitted. So, feel free to stalk us on Twitter (our handles are listed next to our names, after the break).

What's everyone playing?

Spotify takes Facebook’s Timeline feature to insane extremes

Image
Worried that Facebook's new Timeline feature is going to offer up too much information? Don't worry, whatever roller coaster ride your relationship status updates might be, you've got nothing on Spotify. The music streamer is offering up 1,000-odd years of music history on its Facebook page, reaching back to 1,000AD, which was apparently a big year for organum lovers.

PSA: Tropico 4: Modern Times out now through digital distribution

Tropico 4: Modern Times, whose PC launch was officially announced for next week, clearly shows El Presidente is a man of technologication and has learned to export through digital distribution. The Modern Times expansion is available now through Steam and Amazon for $20.

The boxed retail version of Modern Times will still be available next week. The shipments are currently en route within large storage containers with air holes. El Presidente didn't want to keep filling Tropican prisons with rebels... so he found a new export. Oh, that El Presidente, he's a clever one!
