Once again: Do not delete the Prefetch folder on Windows0

The myth that deleting the Prefetch folder on Windows improves the shutdown time is false.

Iraq Is Not War On Terror - Poll0

Americans increasingly see the war in Iraq as distinct from the fight against terrorism, and nearly half believe President Bush has focused too much on Iraq to the exclusion of other threats. Should the trend hold, the rising skepticism could present a political obstacle for Mr. Bush and his allies on Capitol Hill.

United States versus $124,700 in U.S. Currency0

No really, that’s the name of the case.

The Eighth Circuit Appeals Court recently ruled that police may seize cash from motorists, citing that “possession of a large sum of cash is “strong evidence” of a connection to drug activity.” Gonzales was never charged with any crime, but his cash was stolen by police anyway.

Jimmy Carter: Iraq invasion subverts fight against terrorism0

Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter said the Iraq invasion had subverted the fight against terrorism and instead strengthened al-Qaeda and the recruitment of terrorists. In an exclusive interview with The Sunday Telegraph newspaper, Carter said that if he had still been president, he would never have considered invading Iraq in 2003.

So what do you do when your 3 backups fail all at once?1

Man … I cannot believe I’m writing this, but my backup plan for data has failed me horribly here at home … I’m reduced to having to use a freaking Undelete program on my 2nd backup drive (that does not have any harddrive activity outside of backing up those files thankfully).

My problem was that I relied on one single program - SyncBack SE … it somehow failed me today and instead of doing a backup, it went through and deleted all of my data. WTF Chuck? Well, now it’s off to look for a new backup program out there as this one obviously failed me bigtime.
Any help with this would be much appreciated …

Why is America plagued with Incompetance?1

So I’m getting a home equity loan right? Heh, you talk to the person, they tell you what you want to hear … I asked specifically if they will need anything more after this portion, and they say no … so I get the packets in the mail and … TA DA … tons of stuff to send back to get approved. Now this ticks me off because all the agent had to do was say, “I don’t know” or “it depends” or something … don’t lie, because that ticks people off. I’m all ticked off right now, and I can say one of two things: either the agent was lying, or she didn’t know and is incompetant. One or the other, but it can’t be otherwise, and that just sucks. America: Home of the Free, Land of Incompetance? I think so… :(

So…. where have I been anywho…. :-)1

LONG story, but it’s been B U S Y here in southwestern Texas. Had some meetings, had some other meetings, and did some work. Otherwise, all is going very well. The little lady is indeed moving down in two weeks, which rocks! It’s been quite a long time coming too I might add. Argh.

So, rant time a bit — did you know that the terrorists / Iraqi combatants have VIDEOS of their supposed “elite” sniper taking out our guys? It’s sick. I saw a couple of them, and all I can think of when I see that is some mother losing her son back home for … what? Not WMDs … not terrorism (bin Laden is still on the loose, Saddam wasn’t linked to it, yadda yadda) … I’m just getting to a point that this country looks like it is going to fail because we haven’t had good leadership in the presidentcy since Reagan, and it shows. How sad this is to watch the nation wither and for around half of the US is too stupid to even realize it. I guess we’ll just have to wait for us to hit rock bottom and then try to rebuild as best we can — although moving to a more enlightened country such as Norway or Sweden is a very tempting choice heh. Blah. Stupid two-party system and professional politicians … sucks that the highest positions in the country are bought and sold instead of anything else presently. blah, this country needs an enema.

Ah yes …. Friday the 13th ….0

What a day. Historically this is supposed to be a bad day and not as lucky for people, but I’ve always felt that Friday the 13th got a bad rap (and a bad series of films with its name on it). They should have Jason Vorhees look-alikes go around and give free manicures and such to ladies as an apology from the cinematic mass-murderer. Naturally us guys would get the short end of the stick on this one — we never really got as many artistic deaths in these films … most of ours sucked. I remember one where he shoved a guys head into a car of some sorts body and made an imprint of the guys head … I recall a guy in the middle of having fun (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) and getting a freaking pitchfork in his back. Couldn’t Jason have at least waited until the couple was done? Seriously. He really got ‘forked’ outta that one eh? (ok, that sucked, sorry).

On closing, I would have to say the funniest was from “Jason Takes Manhatten” where he uppercuts a boxers head off. That one really let me know this film had jumped the shark (google it).

UPDATE: So what if he’s not guilty?1

Did the US Government make a fatal mistake?
If it turns out that this man was executed and was innocent, I wonder if that will start pushing America towards the rest of the other first world countries that do not condone the death penalty?

Why doesn’t the fear of death seem to work? Well … there is no “sting” to death in most cases … religion tells everyone (including those that would be condemned) that the next life will be better no matter what, so there isn’t much that keeps people from doing horrible things … I mean, look at the suicide bombers in the middle east … they truly believe (and are willing to die for it) that they are going to a better place when they die and kill infidels …

perhaps torture or public beheadings or something less humane? the pain of dying is the only thing I could think of in this life that would keep people from being evil if they are committed to doing that … in the case of suicide bombers the entire family must pay? shrug.gif it’s hard to be fair and kill at the same time 00000022.gif
