um, we lost already … capice?

People want to get high. They want to drink. They want to smoke. They do not believe in their hearts that the government has the right to tell them what to do based on others morals and ideas, and so they go and get what they want.We were not able to ebb the flow of alcohol into the US … in fact, because of prohibition and the black market the demand created, organized crime was able to prosper here … this is also seen today in the market of demand created by drugs and the cartels that bring huge heaps of violence along with their drug shipments into this country.
Add to this the fact that so many are imprisioned for this ‘crime’ … the crime of possessing something of their own volition for their own use. I am all for prosecution of impaired drivers using ANY substance, but when it is consumed at a private residence, what harm is there? The harm comes from putting these non violent offenders in prison where they learn how to be REAL criminals … not to mention that goes on their record and assures them that they will not have good paying jobs … not enough money coming in due to the record, learning how to be criminals in prison … naturally they will turn to crime at his point but it is society that is turning these people into that — the same would happen if cigarettes or alcohol were outlawed, and both have been known to cause addictions.
In other countries around the world there are legalized drugs and their crime rates are nowhere NEAR the US. They deal with their addicts of ANY vice in a much different way – they actually rehabilitate them, not imprison them. Our jails are getting full and wishing others would have our own morals is something that should be extinct by now in a modern world.
So says the Libertarian. I haven’t seen us get a chance yet to do anything, but I can say that both the Dems and Repubs have surely failed so far in this so lets try something that works? Both Clinton and the current fool in office are also known to have done illegal drugs in the past … should they be imprisoned or is it just for the non-gentry of this country, and if they HAD been imprisoned do you think they could have been President? Did their taking of those drugs change how they rule the most powerful country in the world?
