Don LaFontaine, the man who provided the sonorous voice for more than 5,000 movie trailers, died Monday at age 68.

LaFontaine died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from a collapsed lung. He had been taken to the hospital Aug. 22 with a blood clot in the lung.

Extremely useful online speed reading java applet. Any text you copy and paste into it is “flashed” one word at time as fast as you’d like. (I use it offline too by saving it in IE7 as a “Web Archive .mht file” to my local hard drive so it works when I’m disconnected from the internet.) With this and Project Gutenberg you’ll be in reading heaven.

Christopher Nolan’s film, “The Dark Knight,” certainly doesn’t give us any clues. But though the character has many versions of his origin in the fictional world, his actual history is a multimedia mash-up of drawing.But to understand where Ledger came from in his acting, you have to go back to see the characters development over the last 68 years.
